I’m Mike Craig, a green woodworker and woodsman based at the Otley Chevin Forest Park which is situated above the picturesque market town of Otley, West Yorkshire.
I first started training people in the Countryside and Environment sector in the early 1990s. Between 2007-2017 I worked as a lecturer in Countryside Management, specialising in woodland management. I currently work as a self-employed arboricultural consultant when I’m not teaching greenwood craft courses. I’ve worked with trees my whole life and am a self confessed tree geek.
Back in 2008 I discovered the pleasure of working with green wood and became green woodworker in residence at The National Trust’s Nostell Priory and Parkland in West Yorkshire between 2012-2018. In 2019 I was granted a licence by Leeds City Council to run my courses from Otley Chevin Forest Park.
The only thing I enjoy more than carving green wood in a woodland setting is helping others to discover and develop their own woodland craft skills.
